The following partial list, generated from the Fern Engineering project files, represents examples of our operator training programs and training materials.
MULTIMEDIA OPERATOR TRAINING COURSE.
Fern Engineering has produced a multimedia operator training course on gas turbine emissions and control technology.
The course is divided into three major sections:
Combustion fundamentals, which discusses how NOx and CO are created, the differences between diffusion and pre-mixed flames, and the impact of fuel composition
On-engine emissions control systems including water injection, steam injection, "dry low NOx" conbustors, and catalytic combustors
Off-engine emissions control systems including inlet fogging, selective catalytic reduction, oxidation catalysts for CO removal, and SCONOx

OPERATOR TRAINING LECTURES.
Fern Engineering has conducted a variety of training lectures concerning gas turbine operation and maintenance.
The training manuals prepared for these programs are individually tailored and are site-specific for the each client installation.
The manuals and lectures are prepared to address the basic concepts of the gas turbine, as well as the care and maintenance of auxiliary equipment.
On occasion, the training and lectures have been conducted in a foreign language.
Fern has prepared and conducted training programs for power plant and petrochemical plant operators, as well as for turbine manufacturers.
Result: Cost avoidance and reduced downtime through better understanding of gas turbine maintenance.
OVERHAUL/REPAIR MANUALS.
Fern Engineering was retained to write the overhaul and repair manuals for one of the gas turbine industry's principle packagers.
The manuals included text and professional graphics, and were written by Fern personnel with extensive field service experience.
Result: The client delivers valuable, information-packed manuals to users of their gas turbines.
